Warmer weekend, more wind for Christmas Eve

Warmer weekend, more wind for Christmas Eve

Posted: Updated:

COOL PATTERN: We had another cold morning, in the teens and 20s across the area. Lubbock dropped to 22. Since then, with plenty of sun, it's climbed into the lower 50s. And the weather is pretty quiet all around the region.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy, low near 25. Wind SW 5-12mph.

TOMORROW: Sunny and breezy, high 53. Wind NW/N 12-20mph.

WEEKEND: It'll be a little bit warmer, near 59 and sunny Saturday, lower to mid 60s and sunny Sunday.

NEXT WEEK: We expect more wind on Christmas Eve, still with relatively mild afternoons through Christmas. The storm system that'll kick up the wind Tuesday might also produce a few light rain showers Christmas Eve into Christmas Day. But it doesn't look likely at this point.

It'll likely turn colder late in the week. There is still a lot of inconsistency from model to model and from each update of the guidance we receive. So the forecast isn't going to be accurate this far out. There might be some showers at the end of next week, but we'll have to wait for some agreement in the computers before giving much belief to the projections.

Good news...travel weather looks pretty good around the region for Christmas. A White Christmas is likely for much of Colorado and it's possible for northern New Mexico.

Have a great rest of your day. Bobby will have a full update to the forecast here early tomorrow.
-Matt
