Littlefield teacher on leave amidst accusations of inappropriate behavior

Posted: Updated:

Prompted by concerned parents' messages, the Littlefield Police Department is investigating "an incident" at Littlefield Junior High School. Some of the concerns shared by parents were that a teacher acted inappropriately.

The Police Department posted a statement to its Facebook page that it first learned of the allegations from parents, not the school district.

Assistant superintendent Rick Richards said the district is cooperating with the police investigation, but wouldn't specify whether the teacher's leave was paid or unpaid. A release from the district Thursday afternoon stated the district was made aware of the allegations Tuesday evening, that a district employee "may have engaged in conduct relating to a student that violated District policies".

The employee was immediately placed on administrative leave, pending the investigation's results, according to Littlefield ISD.

The Texas Rangers are assisting Littlefield detectives.
