Look Around Lubbock: holiday organization tips

Posted: Updated:
Consider It Done helps make all areas of your home or office work together to make your life simpler. It is not about getting neat and tidy all the time, but knowing what you have and how to access it quickly. With professional organization by Consider by Done and Lori Martin, your productivity will increase and stress decrease.

Before you leave for your holiday trip, tidy up your home so it's not a mess when you come back. When packing for holidays trips this year, divide and conquer. Pack each day in a different clothing holder so you have your days divided. Use pouches that dentists send you home with to put your toiletries in. Pill pockets can also be used for earrings and small jewelry. When you've come back from your trip and you're unpacking, look to see what you don't use anymore to donate or throw away.

To make the chore of wrapping presents less of a chore, make a wrapping station with everything you need in one spot. Show your personality and creativity and theme your wrapping paper. A cloth ribbon will stay neater and not smash like paper ribbon. When traveling with them, use boxes to help protect them. If you have used cardboard rolls of ribbon, wrap lights around it to store. Greeting card boxes can be used for storing extra lights and Christmas tree hangers.

When storing your Christmas tree, there are many options. If you have extra space in a garage, basement or attic, try storing it without taking it apart to save your family time for next year. You can use ribbon or old belts to pull the branches together at the center so that it fits comfortably in corners and other small spaces. For storing breakable ornaments, take them off the tree. To prevents the glass and other breakable ones from knocking into each other, you can buy boxes with dividers made specifically for ornament storage, or you can save money and use found items from around the house. Egg cartons are perfect for smaller items, and they add an extra layer of protection. Or you can take used toilet paper rolls, cut them in half and place them vertically in a bin.
