Lubbock area police chiefs visit children at UMC, deliver stuffed animals
LUBBOCK, Texas -
Hundreds of kids at UMC were cheered up in their rooms Thursday.
Police Chiefs from our area teamed up to spread holiday spirit by visiting kids in the hospital and dropping off a stuffed animal.
PetsSmart donated the stuffed animals to the Police Officers Association for the chiefs in our region. Chief's in the association decided to put those animals to good use.
"Police officers, police chiefs see a lot of awful things. And so a day that we can come and bring some smiles, and bring some love, and show some holiday spirit -- we know it's good for this kids, but it's good for us too," Chief Mike Smith, with the Lubbock Christian University Police Department, said.
Chiefs traveled as far as Seminole and Plainview to help deliver the gifts. The association also includes chiefs from school districts and universities.
