Lubbock grandmother 'overwhelmed' after gifted car to help family

LUBBOCK, Texas -

A Lubbock family's life is changed after a good Samaritan raised enough money for a grandmother to get a much-needed car.

Kathie Loshbough is raising her three grandchildren and has been walking them to school for nearly two years, even working a job herself.

Brooke Phillips works at Betty M Condra Charter School, where Loshbough's grandson attends, and saw the family's need. Phillips was able to connect with Anytime Unlock to donate the car. She raised the money to help pay for the title and registration.

Loshbough says she wants her grandchildren to learn they're capable of anything, no matter what they're given.

"I mean there is no 'I can't'. It's 'I can' and 'I'm going to and it's gonna happen'. And if we have to walk to get there that's what we have to do. But it's gonna happen. I don't want to teach them to be 'I cannters'. It's 'I can and I will'. And so that's how we do it," she said.

Loshbough says she can't wait to get in her car and go to church. She says she's looking forward to seeing all of Lubbock and what it has to offer.
