Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball senior Brittany Brewer was named Co-Big 12 Player of the Week on Monday afternoon by the conference. The weekly award is the second for Brewer in her career, and second for a Lady Raider so far this season.
Brewer averaged 15.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks last week, helping the Lady Raiders win the San Diego Thanksgiving Tournament for their first tournament title in five years. She shot 54.5 percent from the field on the week.
The Lady Raider senior tallied her fourth double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds in the victory over Purdue Fort Wayne. In the 64-60 title game against San Diego, she came up clutch as well, adding 16 points, nine rebounds and seven blocks.
Brewer has had an outstanding start to her senior season, averaging 17.8 points, 11.4 rebounds and a nation-leading 5.8 blocks per game. The Abilene, Texas, native has turned in double-digit rebounds in four of her five appearances this season, and five or more blocks in four games as well. Brewer owns three of the top six single-game blocking performances in the nation this season.
Brewer and the Lady Raiders return to action this Wednesday, Dec. 4 as they host Ole Miss in the Big 12/SEC Challenge at 7 p.m. Tickets are available now.
