Texas Tech's season ends with 49-24 loss in Austin

AUSTIN, Texas -


Texas Tech looked to enter the Longhorns' house and upset UT for the third year in a row. A feat the Red Raider have never done before. However, those plans were put on hold as UT came from behind to defeat TTU 49-24.

The TTU offense got out to a fast start as Jett Duffey connected with KeSean Carter for a touchdown, then SaRodorick Thompson punched in a 10 yard score. However, Keith Patterson's defense was depleted with many injuries. Texas QB, Sam Ehlinger, known for his ability to run the ball. He rushed for a touchdown to get his squad on the board. 

With eight minutes to go in the first half, the Longhorns tied it up at 21. With under two minutes to go before halftime, Texas took the lead, 28-21.

The Longhorns offense continued to find the end zone in the second half, while Texas Tech struggled on both sides of the ball. 

For Texas Tech, KeSean Carter had 11 catches for 150 yards and a touchdown in the first. He entered the game with just 153 receiving yards on the season.

A lot of young players saw time in Austin. Erik Ezukanma had a touchdown himself, 7 catches for 135 yards and a TD.

Jett Duffey threw for nearly 400 yards, was 36-58 through the air. He was sacked four times, fumbled once, and had two touchdowns.

Senior linebacker Jordyn Brooks didn't play in his final game as a Red Raider. According to the FOX broadcast, he was out with a shoulder injury and has plans to have surgery to fix it, next week. 

Matt Wells finished his first season at Texas Tech with a 4-8 record.
