Salvation Army to provide Thanksgiving meals

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Salvation Army will serve hundreds of meals tomorrow, to any who stops by.

Volunteers will put on a 'Community Thanksgiving' feast. They'll also give Meals on Wheels a break to deliver more than 500 meals to home-bound and elderly people.

It takes a lot of manpower to ensure every person is served. The army's expecting between 300 and 500 people this year.

"Somehow the Lord makes a way and on Thanksgiving day it all comes together," Major David Worthy said. "It's sometimes organized chaos, but in the end people are served, we're fellow-shipping and spending time together. And really we're all kind of giving thanks for the opportunity that's afforded us to serve."

They'll be serving between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. It'll be held at the Salvation Army headquarters near 16th and Ave. J.

Meal deliveries will start after 11 a.m.
