Home Instead, Meals on Wheels to deliver Lubbock senior's Christmas gifts

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

Each holiday Lubbock Meals on Wheels partners with Home Instead Senior Care to "Be a Santa to a Senior"

So far nearly 700 home-bound seniors have been adopted. The program needs help in adopting the remaining seniors and making sure each wish is fulfilled this holiday. Gifts can be as simple as a blanket or warm robe.

"There's a lot of projects for children at Christmas, as there should be, but there's very few things for seniors. And for many of our clients this will be the only Christmas gift they receive," Lubbock Meals on Wheels Director Lisa Gilliland said. "So it makes it really special that there are angel trees out there for our elderly in the community. They so look forward to getting a gift, getting to unwrap it and getting that special delivery."

The deadline to drop off gifts to be delivered in time is Saturday, Dec. 9. Trees can be found at the Walmart near Quaker and Loop 289, Home Instead Senior Care on Slide Rd. and Lakeridge Chapel & Memorial Designers on 82nd Street.
