Gov. Abbott appoints McClendon to University Research Initiative Advisory

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Christy McClendon to the Governor's University Research Initiative Advisory for an unspecified term.

The board assists the office of the Governor by reviewing and evaluating applications for grant proposals, and makes recommendations for approval or disapproval of those applications.

McClendon is a Lubbock native and Texas Tech graduate.

She currently serves as executive vice president for GRACO Real Estate Development, Inc.

She is a member of the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health National Advisory Board, and chairman for the Covenant Health System Board of Directors. 

McClendon is also the former chairman of the Lubbock Independent School District Talkington School for Young Women Leaders advisory Council,
