Debi Holland, the mother of a pregnant teenager who was murdered by her step-father in 2016, pleaded guilty Friday morning to a charge of injury to a child and got a 15-year prison sentence.

James Holland is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for the Capital Murder of Holli Jeffcoat and her unborn child in February 2016. Investigators found the victim's body at a home near Idalou with her throat cut, her stomach slashed and partially burned.

James Holland was initially arrested in March of 2016 for continuous sexual assault of a child involving a different family member. Court documents showed Debi Holland knew about the abuse, but did not stop it.

Her arrest warrant also shows Debi Holland knew her daughter Holli was pregnant in January of 2016. According to a statement released by the Lubbock County District Attorney, "She was positively a parent who failed to protect her children from the evil that was occurring to them."

Debi Holland's warrant indicates the mother told her daughter she couldn't play basketball because they didn't have enough money to quote "take the baby out." Holli reportedly told a teacher at her school "James was going to take the baby out with a coat hanger." The victim was reportedly told by her mother not to tell anyone she was being assaulted because they needed the step-father to pay the bills.

On Feburary 2, eight days before Holli's murder, medical tests indicate the teen was 12 weeks pregnant.

A search warrant of Debi Holland's e-mail address reportedly found numerous searches for incest porn mostly involving stepfathers and stepdaughters. In an interview with investigators, a family member claimed she was also sexually assaulted by James Holland. She claims she witnessed him sexually assault Holli while she begged him to stop.

Prosecutors said both Hollands were retaliating against Holli by killing her.
