Texas Tech Dept. of English helps students de-stress with licensed therapy dogs

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Tech and the South Plains Obedience Training Club have partnered for the last several years to provide pet therapy during finals. It's a chance for students to grab a snack and unwind with licensed therapy dogs.

"Students just love it because they're, you know, most of the time their dogs are at home with their families and they can't bring them to Tech, or they're staying in the dorms and they can't have pets at the dorm. Studies have shown that therapy dogs help relieve stress and people just love cuddling with dogs," Christiana Christofides, Director of the English Department, said.

The department hosts the event three times a semester when students are feeling the most pressure.
