Heart of Lubbock Housing to give two homes to Open Door

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Heart of Lubbock Housing will close soon, but not before doing one more good day.

The non-profit started in 2014 with the goal of helping families find affordable housing. In its final days the company has decided to give its two homes to Open Door, an organization focused on ending homelessness in our area.

"It's a huge asset to us. To be able to offer affordable housing to somebody is a big deal," Chad Wheeler, Executive Director of Open Door, said. "Because of our mission we're able to approach it with a gracious perspective and work with people who need some understanding, they need some support along with housing. We're able to do that as landlords as well."

Open Door currently has two housing programs. One battles chronic homelessness, the other helps survivors of sex trafficking and their families.
