Rain expected on South Plains next few days

Posted: Updated:

THIS AFTERNOON: It warmed up again, reaching the mid 70s in Lubbock and across much of our area. Our focus is to northwestern Mexico, where an upper-level storm system is spinning. It's bringing showers and thunderstorms to Arizona. It'll bring wet weather here next few days.

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds, low near 53. Wind S 10-16mph. Some sprinkles are possible in the morning.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with a chance for showers and thunderstorms. We don't expect every part of our area to get rain, but it's a pretty good chance you'll get some rain. High near 68. Wind S/SW 12-22mph. A few stronger storms are possible, as well.

Then everything should clear out tomorrow night.

THURSDAY: Clouds will increase once again through the morning. While a little rain is possible during the day, it looks like the next upper-level disturbance won't get here until late Thursday. That's when the rain chance goes even higher, Thursday evening into Friday morning. Some soaking downpours are possible.

LOOKING AHEAD: Rain should end early Friday. It'll be a colder day, probably only reaching the 40s.

The weekend will be sunny with the high in the 60s. The Texas Tech game will be chilly, with the temperature in the low 50s dropping into the 40s.

We may see some more showers by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

Have a great rest of your day. Bobby will have a full update to the forecast here early tomorrow.
