Public hearings begin in Trump's impeachment inquiry

TV cameras are in place in a House office building just south of the U.S. Capitol as impeachment hearings for President Trump make their public debut. Until this morning's session of the House intelligence committee, witnesses have appeared behind closed doors. Democrats are calling two witnesses today, another Friday and eight more next week. Construction injury


A construction worker is in the hospital after being shocked when an eighteen-wheeler raised its trailer into an overhead power line. It happened at a construction site near FM 1294 just north of the Lubbock airport. The line that was hit fell on the construction worker causing critical injuries.

 

Review on help for victims of family violence


The Texas Council on Family Violence focuses on providing the best service for victims. Its 19-page report identifies needs and availability of support services, county by county. The goal is to identify gaps. Last year, Women's Protective Services assisted more than 3,700 women and children. The study gives Lubbock county a score of 3 out of 7 for a need of domestic violence services.  The study interviewed 150 survivors across the state and gathered data from 92 agency directors, and 85 regional hotlines. 

 

Detours during Saturday's Tech game


Parts of Broadway will be closed off Saturday for the Tech vs TCU game. Lubbock Police are partnering with the student government to "Barricade Broadway."  The street will be closed from University to Avenue "X." Officers will be guiding foot traffic. There will be designated areas for ride shares.
