Science by the Glass discusses climate in classrooms

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

Students and residents gathered at Local Bar & Grill to talk about climate change.

Yes, this was on a day where Lubbock set a record low of 15 degrees. But, on the global scale, government scientists report the last four years were the warmest on record of the last 139 years.

The Texas Tech Climate Center hosted its latest Science by the Glass. This event's theme was "Climate Change in the American Classroom".

"A lot of students are striking across the globe because of this issue," said Casey Williams, Ph.D who studies educational psychology. "How do we reconcile that in the classroom and engage those students? And really, get everyone back into the classroom and motivated to tackle these problems in a way that works for both the teacher and the student."

Williams adds the goal is to get more people talking about the issue.
