FOX34 Football Friday

Each week we're at a different high school preparing for the week's football game. This morning we're at Idalou High School. The Wildcats, led by Coach Jeff Lofton are 6-3 going into the game tonight against Abernathy at 7:30 p.m. Meredith Aldis will have updates through the morning with the Wildcats.

Cloudy this morning, then clear out

Meteorologist Bobby Johnston said it is cloudy this morning, but the clouds will thin from west to east through the day. We should finally get some sun here by the afternoon, helping the temperature to climb to the mid 50's. It'll be clear and cold for the football games tonight with the temperature in the 40's.

Preparing for an active shooter scenario

This year alone, there have been 28 mass shootings in Texas. The Lubbock Police Department helped citizens be prepared for what to do during an active shooter situation. Police said the shootings in El Paso and Midland-Odessa earlier this year have amplified the need for this kind of training. For the full story: click here.

"Teen Court" teaches students justice system hands-on

Teenagers had the chance to take the law into their own hands. They turned the auditorium at Dunbar Prep into a courtroom with the students in charge. Serving on the jury, the defense and the prosecution worked together to try and sentence their peers for minor crimes. Defendants were sentenced to community service hours, reflective essays and special education programs. For the full story: click here.

South Plains College students make stuffed animals

The college held a student appreciation event where participants were able to make their own stuffed animals. The stuffed animals will be donated to children in need at the Ronald McDonald House. For the full story: click here.

Police hunting for armed robbers

A man went into the Bada Bing Game Room with a gun and demanded money from Henry Paloma, who flashed a gun of his own. The suspect grabbed a second victim and used her as a hostage. Palomo and the suspect began fighting and Paloma was shot in the arm. Police are looking for two suspects, a woman named Patricia Zavala and a Hispanic man in his early to mid 20's. State to replace Snyder I.S.D. trustees

Education Commissioner Mike Morath plans to replace the entire school board with state appointees. Board President Ralph Ramon and Vice President Brad Hinton were in Austin yesterday to meet with the Texas Education Agency. The state's given the Junior High campus another "improvement required" accountability rating. A certified petition from parents at that campus now  asking for the school to close. Mick Mulvaney subpoened for testimony today

Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney was subpoenaed to appear today in the impeachment inquiry, but it's unlikely he'll go because the White House has been stone walling. Former National Security Adviser John Bolton was a no show for his testimony yesterday, but said he'd testify if a judge clears the way.
