Brownfield City Council votes to terminate city manager

BROWNFIELD, Texas -

City of Brownfield confirms its city council voted to terminate its city manager, Eldon Jobe, effective immediately. 

Town Talk reports Assistant City Manager Jeff Davis will fill in as the interim city manager. The decision to terminate Jobe came through a 4-3 vote in its Thursday morning meeting. 

Council members also voted to hire a new city attorney. 

The City of Brownfield released the following statement Thursday afternoon: 

As of November 7, 2019, the City of Brownfield City Council made the motion to terminate Eldon Jobe as the City Manager and appoint Assistant City Manager, Jeff Davis, as the interim City Manager of the City of Brownfield. The motion carried with four (4) Aye, three (3) No. The City of Brownfield would like to thank Mr. Jobe for his 21 years of service to the City and its residence.
