LUBBOCK, Texas -

Lubbock police released dash-cam footage of a crash involving an LPD Tahoe Sunday evening near the intersection of South Loop 289 and University Ave.

Police report an officer saw a traffic violation behind an ambulance on University. The officer, with sirens and lights enabled, tried to catch up to the vehicle to make a traffic stop when a Camaro failed to yield the right-of-way colliding with the Tahoe, according to police.

The driver of the Camaro and the officer both suffered moderate injuries.

Police issued the following statement along with the release of the footage:

For the sake of transparency and the relationship we have with the Lubbock community, we are releasing the dash-camera footage from an officer-involved crash that occurred Nov. 3rd.

On that evening, an officer observed a traffic violation on University Avenue that occurred behind an ambulance. Both vehicles were traveling northbound on University. The officer was attempting to catch up to the individual to make a stop with both his sirens and lights enabled and had a green light, when a red Camaro crossed in front of the officer and the cars collided.

We value the public's trust in our work, and we take that trust very seriously. We hope this dash-camera footage clears up any confusion on the occurrences that evening.
