Warm again today and wet by Wednesday

Meteorologist Bobby Johnston said today will not be as warm as yesterday thanks to a weak cool front. The high temperature for today is 71 degrees and the low is 36 degrees. There is a good chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday and into Thursday.

2020 Election Day one year away

A new polling from Fox News indicates the President may be fighting an uphill battle. For the democrats, Former Vice President Joe Biden remains the clear front runner ahead of primary season. Senator Elizabeth Warren in second and Senator Bernie Sanders in third. The results show the President loses head to head against the top five democratic candidates. President Trump calls the polling fake. 

Beto O'Rourke drops out of race

He tweeted the announcement after a major donor dinner in Iowa. The former Congressman said it's difficult to accept, but it's clear his campaign can't move forward successfully. O'Rourke went on to say he'll support the eventual nominee for President. O'Rourke said he will not run against John Cornyn for his Senate seat next year.

Fatal crashes over the weekend

Three people died in two separate wrecks early Saturday morning. Two pickups crashed at East 50th and East Loop 289 on the access road. Iscaac Supelveda and his passenger Esparanza Salinas both died. The driver of the other truck was hospitalized with serious injuries. For the full story: click here. A motorcycle driver died when police said he crashed into the back of a pickup stopped at a light on 34th and Indiana. Johnny Vasquez died at the scene and the driver of the truck wasn't hurt. City working to address homelessness

Earlier this year, the city formed the Lubbock Homelessness Committee aimed at investigating the causes and resources available to homeless people in the area. The committee is considering stricter enforcement of ordinances and petitioning the state legislature for more funds for mental health resources to help solve chronic homelessness. The committee is also suggesting creating a facility in a collaborative effort between hospitals in the area. For the full story: click here.

Lubbock to add LBB-HOU flight in April

Starting in April, Southwest will provide a non-stop to Houston's Hobby Airport six days a week. Mayor Dan Pope said this is another example of regional growth and investment the city is making to Preston Smith.
