IRVING, Texas – The Big 12 announced Thursday the recognition of 155 student-athletes for Academic All-Big 12 teams. Texas Tech was represented 15 times – 12 on the women's side and three on the men's – the most since 2015. Tech had three achieve a perfect grade-point average: Bennett Barnett, Bret Leigh Nance and Natalie Parks.
"It's such a great example of the balance that they have in their lives, academics, athletics and being the best in everything they do," said head coach Jon Murray.
First Team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the Second Team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. All runners from Tech were listed on the First Team.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests.
