COLD DAY: There were dozens of wrecks with icy bridges around the city this morning. Actual precipitation was pretty minimal, but it doesn't take much ice to cause problems. Since then it's stayed cold and cloudy most of the day. Finally the clouds thinned by late afternoon.
TONIGHT: With a mostly clear sky it'll get very cold. The record low for tomorrow morning in Lubbock is 20; we're forecasting 18. Not much wind. It'll be a few degrees colder over the NW South Plains, likely as low as 13 at Muleshoe.
SUNSHINE RETURNS: It'll be, compared to the last few days, much warmer tomorrow. Sunny, high near 54, wind W/SW 5-15mph. But this is still well below the typical high this year, around 70.
For Halloween night it'll drop from near 50 at 6 p.m. to the upper 30s by 10 p.m., mainly clear, wind SW 5-15mph.
Friday will bounce back to the mid 60s, before another front move across the area. This will kick up the north wind late Friday. Behind the front it'll reach the low to mid 50s Saturday. Then it'll turn warmer Sunday and Monday.
Another cold front may move into the region by the middle of next week, though computers are mixed on whether that will happen. It does look colder again late next week into next weekend.
Have a great rest of your day and stay warm. Bobby will have an update to the forecast here early tomorrow.
