City Bank Community Rewards Program's voting begins Sunday

Voting in City Bank’s annual Community Rewards Program begins Sunday, Oct. 27. Residents of Lubbock and the surrounding region are invited to vote for their favorite charities online at

Since its inception, Community Rewards has given $600,000 to 130 organizations in the West Texas area. This year, 30 recipients will receive awards in six categories: Basic Human Needs, Health and Wellness, Child Development and Advocacy, Education and Youth Services, Community Development and Leadership, and Animal Welfare and Environment.

Rewards will go to the top five recipients in each category, with first place receiving $4,000, second place receiving $2,000, third place receiving $1,500, fourth place receiving $1,000 and fifth place receiving $500. The organization with the most overall votes will receive an additional $3,000.

“Making a positive impact in our communities is truly at the heart of our organization,” Cory T. Newsom, President/ CEO of City Bank said. “This is our way of showing our deepest gratitude to the non-profits who work so hard to make a difference in our community. We’re urging everyone to get involved and vote for their favorite organization.”

City Bank launched this year’s campaign by presenting six $500 “Early Rewards” at the kickoff event on Oct. 16. Award winners were Volunteer Center of Lubbock, Junior League of Lubbock, Early Learning Centers, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Animal Rescue Crosby County and Texas Tech University Museum Association.

Voting begins Oct. 27 and continues through Dec. 8. One vote can be cast per email address per hour. Voters must be 18 years old or older. Polls will be updated regularly. The top five vote getters in each
category will be listed at Winners will be announced the week before Christmas.
