Sunny but chilly today, much nicer Saturday

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

A very cold start this morning with wind chills in the teens and 20s. Some slick spots possible on roads so give some extra time for your morning commute. Also, if you parked outside you might have to clear your windshield from the snow and ice. All the precipitation has ended for the area.
Current Temperature

TODAY: Sunshine with clouds possible in our far eastern counties. Highs will stay chilly in the lower to mid 50s, north wind still breezy at times 10-20mph.

TONIGHT: A clear and cold night for Friday Football games! Take extra layers of clothes and blankets with you. The wind will be calmer 5-10mph changing to the west overnight. Freeze likely for most of the area again with the low near 29.

WEEKEND: Temperatures climb around 20 degrees Saturday for a beautiful afternoon. A front move in during the day Sunday with temperatures dropping and clouds moving in from the north. It looks to be a dry front with wind speeds increasing 12-22mph.

NEXT WEEK: Models still working out some details with timing of cold fronts but overall the trend is downwards in temperatures. Highs in the upper upper 40s and 50s to start the week, lows back to near freezing. Another front looks to drop highs more by Wednesday and might bring some more precipitation with it. For now it doesn't look to high amounts but something to keep an eye on.

Have a great Friday and stay bundled up! Matt with the next updated forecast tonight after game 3 on FOX34.
