Sunny, quiet fall day

Meteorologist Bobby Johnston said the high will be near 72 today with a wind of 5 to 15 mph. Tomorrow will be warmer and then colder and windy on Thursday.

Some Texas Republicans pull support from Bonnen

A handful of House Republicans, including one from Lubbock, said they can no longer support Speaker Dennis Bonnen. It's the most significant sign that his political future may be in trouble, after that secret recording was released last week by a conservative activist. That audio confirmed that Bonnen, among other things, offered house floor media access to a conservative activist organization if Michael Quinn Sullivan's group would politically target 10 House Republicans in the 2020 primaries. City Council to vote on new Police Chief today

If approved, Floyd Mitchell would start November 11. He is currently the Chief in Temple, near Waco. The City chose him after a lengthy search that started after Former Chief Greg Stevens retired in May. Mitchell has nearly three decades of law enforcement experience, is a master certified peace officer in Texas and graduated from the FBI's National Academy. 

Two arrested, charged with murdering Andre Emmett

Two men accused of shooting and killing former Tech basketball star Andre Emmett are jailed. Keith Johnson was arrested on an unrelated warrant. Michael Lucky turned himself in yesterday. Emmett was shot and killed in the street outside his home last month. For the full story: click here.

Early voting underway in Constitutional election

From 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the next ten days, you can cast a ballot at any United Store or at the Lubbock County Elections Office. There are ten proposed changes you'll decide. Among there is banning a state income tax, property tax relief for areas hit by natural disasters, and funding for managing state parks and historical areas. Election day is November 5.

Pregnant woman shot, killed

Lamesa Police are looking for whoever shot a pregnant woman in the back and left her to die. Officers found 28 year old Champaign Woods in her home South Detroit and Southeast 12th Street Saturday night. For the full story: click here.

Look Around Lubbock: Hocus Pocus cookie decorating tonight
