Tornado hits Dallas, causes serious damage

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS, TX -

Part of North Dallas is badly damaged after a tornado touched down last night.

About 150,000 homes and businesses don't have power.

The National Weather Service confirms a tornado touched down near Dallas Love Field and plowed a 17-mile path. No serious injuries have been reported. Power lines are down, most of those east of I35 in North Dallas. Roofs were ripped from homes, a church and even a Home Depot store.

Several Dallas ISD schools are closed today because of damage and administrators are worried one elementary school may be a total loss because of water and gas leaks.

No word from utility companies when they'll have repairs made to get the power back on.
