FOX34 Football Friday

Each week we're at a different high school preparing for the week's football game. This morning we're at Peoples Bank Stadium with Frenship High School. The Tigers, led by Coach Jay Northcutt are 4-2 going into their homecoming game. They face the Midland Bulldogs tonight at 7:30 p.m. Meredith Aldis will have updates through the morning with the Tigers.

Mostly sunny and warm

Meteorologist Robert Gauthreaux said the temperatures will quickly climb with the high around 10 degrees above the average. It will be near 85 degrees in Lubbock with a breeze of about 12-22 mph. High school football games will be toasty for the first half, then cool down to the upper 60's by the end. 

Vista Bank: Reagor part of fraud at auto group

Vista Bank directly accuses Bart Reagor of fraud in new court filings. The allegation is in the Bank's response to Reagor's counter claims filed against it. The Bank points to Shane Smith and four other employees' guilty please to federal crimes. The Bank claims that activity directly put his companies in default on Vista Bank's loans. Reagor's attorney's say he was betrayed by people within his company and new nothing about any fraudulent activity. 

Overnight house fires in Olton, Texas

Firefighters in Olton spent the overnight hours battling three house fires at the same time. The first one started on Avenue G and while crew members were fighting it, another went up on Main Street and then a third right next door to that one. Fire crews from Olton, Springlake Earth and Hart were there to help. No injuries were reported. No word yet on what caused the fires. 

Texas Tech Regent gives $25,000 to cover Hocutt fine

Chris Huckabee, the Chairman of Texas Tech's Board of Regents, pitched $25,000 into a fund set up by former Chancellor Kent Hance. Whatever is left over in that charity fund after the penalty's paid, will go toward a scholarship fund in the Athletic Director's name. The conference fined Hocutt after he made a public statement about the officiating in the Tech v. Baylor game. 

Details on Central Lubbock chase, crash Wednesday

The police were chasing two suspects for stealing an ATM. Investigators said they stole the machine out of a convenience store near 42nd and Boston. An officer spotted them near 42nd and P and started the chase. It led to 39th and University where the truck crashed and the suspects jumped out to run, before officers caught them. Police said Mark Melendez was driving the get away truck and faces several charges. The other suspect, Amy Martinez is charged with evading arrest. For the full story: click here.

Energy Secretary Rick Perry to step down

Secretary Perry's been with the administrations since the beginning, one of the last original cabinet members. The Presidents said Perry's been a great asset to the administration and he already has a replacement in mind. House democrats issued the Secretary a subpoena in their impeachment proceedings. The House wants to know if Perry played a part in "conveying or reinforcing" the President's message to investigate Joe Biden's family. He said he asked President Trump to call Ukraine's leader several times, but it was about energy policies, not about the Bidens. For the full story: click here.
