CONGRESSMAN ELIJAH CUMMINGS HAS DIED. HiS REPS SAY HE WAS DEALING WITH LONGSTANDING MEDICAL CHALLENGES.  

SINCE 1996, CUmmings has BEEN A MEMBER OF THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES FOR MARYLAND'S 7TH DISTRICT, JUST OVER HALF OF BALTIMORE COUNTY.

Cummings iNTRODUCED THE BILL TO PUT HARRIET TUBMAN ON THE $20 DOLLAR BILL.


AS CHAIRMAN OF THE HOUSE OVERSIGHT AND REFORM COMMITTEE, CUMMINGS LED MULTIPLE INVESTIGATIONS INTO PRESIDENT TRUMP'S GOVERNMENTAL DEALINGS. THE INVESTIGATIONS ANGERED THE PRESIDENT, WHO CRITICIZED THE CONGRESSMAN'S DISTRICT AS A "RODENT-INFESTED MESS" WHERE "NO HUMAN BEING WOULD WANT TO LIVE."   CUMMINGS WAS DUE TO RETURN THIS WEEK WHEN THE HOUSE WAS BACK IN SESSION FOLLOWING A MEDICAL PROCEDURE, BUT HE DIDN'T SHOW. 

HE WAS 68.
