Temperatures continue to climb

Meteorologist Robert Gauthreaux said the high for today is near 70 with lots of sun and a southerly wind of about 5 to 10 mph. Temperatures should reach the the 80's on Friday and should stay in that range for the homecoming game on Saturday.

Recording reveals political hit list

Over the summer, a conservative writer accused House Speaker Dennis Bonnen and Lubbock Representative Dustin Burrows of offering his group media credentials if they went after some problematic house republicans in the primaries. He claimed to have to conversation recorded. Bonnen and Burrows denied it and encouraged him to release the recording. Now he has. For the full story: click here.

Fourth Democratic debate

This was the first Presidential debate since the House of Representatives opened an impeachment inquiry into President Trump. The twelve candidates who took the stage immediately shared why they think the inquiry, or even impeachment, is the right move. The candidates also debated President Trump's withdrawal of U.S. troops from Syria. The next debate is November 20 in Georgia. So far, only 8 candidates have qualified because of higher fundraising and polling requirements. 

Popular D.J. indicted for indecency with a child

Charles Sanchez, stage name D.J. Sancho is accused of inappropriately touching two girls. In one case, C.P.S. reports a 14 year old girl told investigators Sanchez came into her room drunk and encouraged her to drink alcohol, got into bed with her, and tried to get her naked. She said later he touched her inappropriately. He bonded out last week. For the full story: click here.

Teenager indicted for aggravated robbery

Payton Sharrah faces three counts of aggravated robbery. His arrest warrant indicates he was the get-away driver in a plot to rob a drug dealer. Three other men pulled the job and one fired a gun before leaving. A witness told police the weapons used in the robbery were all Sharrah's. He's held on a hundred thousand dollars bond. 

'Fair Chance Job Fair' hopes to eliminate employment barriers for felons

A job fair focusing on workers with a criminal record is intended as a second chance. "Gainful Employment" is part of many probation or parole agreements, but that can be tough when the job opportunities for offenders are few and far between. Michael McBride, a job seeker who attended the job fair, said he feels a sense of reassurance to see so many businesses willing to give him and many others a shot to better their lives. Pelosi won't call formal vote on impeachment

President Trump has said that without a vote, the ongoing impeaching inquiry is "illegitimate," but Pelosi said "we're not her to call bluffs." Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff said the White House has ordered the defense department to not comply with house subpoenas and that "the case for obstruction continues to build."

Mike Pence will not comply with subpoena

Vice President Pence announced that he won't comply with a request from democrats to turn over documents related to his role in the Ukraine scandal. In yesterday's statement, Pence wrote, "Never before in history has the speaker of the house attempted to launch an 'impeachment inquiry' against a president without a majority of the house of representatives voting to authorize a constitutionally acceptable process."

Guiliani defies congressional subpoena

Yesterday was the deadline to respond, but Rudy Guiliani's Attorney, Jon Sale, sent a letter to house lawmakers, saying Guiliani will not turn over the documents they requested. The grand jury has since subpoenaed former Texas Representative Pete Sessions about his relationship with Guiliani and his four associates who were arrested last week on campaign finance charges.

Pres. Trump and White House officials talk Syria today

The meeting coincides with growing unease about his decision to withdraw U.S. forces, creating an opening for a Turkish offensive against the Kurds, who are U.S. allies. As of this week, U.S. soldiers have already started evacuating personnel, equipment, and weapons. Syria's Kurdish fighters, America's longtime battlefield allies against the Islamic state, have since switched sides and joined up with Damascus and Moscow, working steadily to fill the vacuum left by President Trumps retreat in the region. 

Look Around Lubbock: Texas Tech Spirit Program

The Texas Tech Co-Ed Cheer team won the Grand National Championship title at the 2019 NCA Nationals. The Pom Squad won the 2019 D1A Pom National Championship and placed second in the Jazz division. Meredith Aldis will be with the squads this morning with what it takes to be part of this winning culture.
