LUBBOCK, Texas -

The flu is lurking around and kindergarteners at Centennial Elementary were shown proper handwashing techniques Tuesday morning to protect them this flu season.

GermBlast helps to lower the number of illnesses and infections by disinfecting populated areas, from work places to classrooms. Last year many schools in our area were shutdown because of the flu.

As part of Global Handwashing day, GermBlast highlighted the importance of washing away germs and bacteria even in those hard to reach places.

"So the wrist and fingernails naturally are a little bit harder to learn, but with the way that we're teaching them here with this product it will actually show them what bacteria looks like on their hands. They can see some of those areas that they may have missed and really work on some of those problem areas that are harder to get to," Heath Herrington, Account Manager for GermBlast, said.

Herrington said starting at an early age increases the chances of practicing good hygiene as an adult.
