Cooler temperatures next few days

Meteorologist Bobby Johnston said a cold front will push into the area leaving us with a range in temperatures. 60's and 70's for much of the area with 80's to the southern counties. This front will also clear the cloud cover later in the day, but some sprinkles can't be ruled out.

Former Fort Worth cop charged with murder

Fort Worth Police Officer Aaron Dean charged with murder after 28 year old, Atatiana Jefferson was gunned down in her Fort Worth home. Police were called to the home of Jefferson Saturday after a concerned neighbor saw doors open. Dean fired a fatal show through Jefferson's window. Everything was caught on bodycam footage. Filing death benefits for Veterans can ease future burden

If a Veteran is in a VA hospital when they die, the government will pay up to $796 toward burial and funeral expenses. As far as burial in a national cemetery, the VA will pay $2,000 and cover some, or all of the cost of transportation. For the full story: click here.

Early voting starts next Monday

You can cast a ballot at any United story or at the Lubbock County Elections Office. There are ten proposed changes. Among them, banning a state income tax, property tax relief for areas hit by natural disasters, and funding for managing state parks and historical areas. Slaton will also hold elections for Mayor and a Council member. Early voting lasts two weeks.

Former District Judge Brad Underwood dies

His legal career spanned 40 years and he was the first Judge in the 364th District Court when it was created in 1989. Judge Brad Underwood was 65. For the full story: click here.

Shigellosis cases increase in Lubbock

The Health Department warns there is an increase in this diarrheal illness that can last up to a week, causing fevers, vomiting, and stomach cramps. There were 21 cases of the bacterial infection reported since last month. For the full story: click here.
