Former District Judge Brad Underwood dies

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Former District Judge Brad Underwood died this weekend.

County Judge Curtis Parrish and Commissioner Bill McCay spoke about Judge Underwood's life during Monday morning's meeting.

Judge Underwood was appointed to Lubbock County's 364th District Court at its inception in 1989. Before that, he served as judge for Lubbock County Court-At-Law No. 2 and worked in the Lubbock County District Attorney's office.

Underwood served as judge of the 364th for 25 years, retiring in 2014. Afterward he continued to serve as a visiting judge. Judge William Eichman was elected to the position and is currently the judge.

Underwood was 65.
