THIS AFTERNOON: We've had a huge temperature range across our area, from low 50s north to around 90 to the southeast. It's because of a cold front that's moved across the area. The N/NE wind will increase next few hours.
FREEZE TONIGHT: A cold night is in store. We'll be close to a freeze in the morning in Lubbock, we're forecasting 33 here. A freeze is expected west and north of the city, with upper 20s from Muleshoe to Dimmitt.
What may actually keep us just above freezing in the city is the strong wind. Ideal conditions for the temperature to drop including light wind and a clear sky. But that wind will make it feel uncomfortable. Late tonight through early morning wind N/NE 20-25mph with gusts above 35mph. That will push the wind chill down into the 20s.
TOMORROW: The wind will gradually back off through the day. Lots of sun, high in the mid 50s.
It'll be cold for the Friday night football games, dropping from the low 50s into the mid 40s. Not much wind, clear sky.
LOOKING AHEAD: A freeze is expected in Lubbock and much of the area Saturday morning. It'll be clear with light wind. By the afternoon it'll recover into the mid 60s. Sunday will be warmer, low 80s.
Next week looks mild and dry with lots of sun each day. No good sign of rain over the next 7-10 days.
Have a great rest of your day and stay warm. Bobby will have an update to the forecast here early tomorrow.
