LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech women's tennis head coach Todd Petty announced the signing of Bojana Marinkov on Wednesday. Marinkov is set to join the Lady Raiders for the upcoming spring semester.
Marinkov hails from Collaroy Plateau, Australia where she's turned in an impressive career to this point, reaching a career high ITF ranking of 584 in the world. She also owns a career high WTA pro singles ranking of 775 in the world.
Marinkov has played in the main draws of a number of international pro tennis tournaments over the last year, including the Nonthaburi $25k in Thailand, as well as the Canberra $25k and the Perth $15k in Australia. She also advanced to the main draw semifinals of the Port Pirie $15k in February.
The addition of Marinkov strengthens an already elite group of newcomers for the Lady Raiders that TennisRecruiting.net ranked fourth in the country earlier this summer. The list ranked Texas Tech behind only South Carolina, UCLA and Princeton.
The Lady Raiders return to action next weekend, when they travel to Waco, Texas, for the ITA Texas Region Championships. The tournament is set to begin Thursday, Oct. 17.
