THIS AFTERNOON: It's warmed into the upper 70s to low 80s across the area, with lots of sun. It's going to get even warmer next few days. There are some showers and thunderstorms in Eastern New Mexico, moving east. At least parts of our area should get some rain tonight. Here is FOX34 VIPIR:
TONIGHT: Slight chance for a shower or storm, low near 61. Wind S 10-18mph.
TOMORROW: Warmer, mostly sunny and breezy. High near 88. Wind S/SW 12-22mph.
NEXT FEW DAYS: It'll be warm and breezy again on Thursday, ahead of the next strong cold front. At this point we expect the front to move across the Panhandle during the day, then into our area some time Thursday evening. It'll bring a gusty N/NE wind around 30mph with higher gusts. And the temperature will drop quickly.
Friday morning's low will be in the mid 30s around Lubbock, still a little bit breezy. Saturday morning we're forecasting 34. A freeze is not out of the question, though we'll probably stay just above. But areas north and northwest of Lubbock may make it down to 32.
The weekend will be sunny, warmer Sunday. And that mild pattern should hold through the first half of next week.
Have a great rest of your day. Bobby will have a full update to the forecast here early tomorrow.

Made up of about 60 kids, The Estacado High School band's numbers pale in comparison to other school bands across the state, but their performances on the field are among the very best. That is what Vista Ridge High School Band Director Bryan Christian said, who leads a group with about five times as many kids.
