While two other inmates who escaped from the Curry County Detention Center last summer pleaded guilty, a jury convicted the third inmate, Ricky Sena, 26, on multiple charges.

A Curry County found Sena guilty of escaping in June 2018. Sena was convicted on felonies of escaping from jail, conspiracy to escape from jail, escape from custody of a peace officer, aggravated assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon, and being a felon with a gun.

Sena, along with fellow inmates Victor Apodaca and Aaron Clark, walked out of an unlocked door of the jail. They had help; detention officer Sarina Dodson has pleaded guilty to assisting escape from jail and is serving a nine-year sentence.

The three inmates were found four days later in a Clovis home. After a SWAT standoff, they were taken into custody.

Apodaca earlier pleaded guilty to charges tied to the escape and received a 16-year sentence. Clark pleaded guilty and received 11 years.

Sentencing for Sena will be at a later date. He faces up to 30 years for these crimes. He's currently serving an 11-year sentence for a separate case of aggravated battery and aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer.
