Cool again tonight, colder mornings later this week

Posted: Updated:

FALL WEATHER: It dropped to the 40s this morning across most of our area, first time for Lubbock since Mother's Day. It was even colder north of the city, here are some readings from the Texas Tech Mesonet:

Amarillo 36
Aiken 38
Floydada 38
Silverton 38
Dimmitt 39
Friona 39
Hart 39

Since then it's warmed into the 60s and lower 70s beneath a clear sky. Radar is clear all across the region, with dry air in place.

TONIGHT: Clear, low near 47. Wind S 5-10mph.

TOMORROW: Warmer and sunny, high 77. Wind S 10-18mph.

NEXT FEW DAYS: A weak disturbance passing across the region will bring a real small chance for some rain tomorrow night into early Wednesday. After that it'll warm back to the mid 80s Wednesday and Thursday, both days with a gusty SW wind.

Then a stronger front will move through the region late Thursday, with a strong north wind. Friday morning we're forecasting 36 in Lubbock. Then mid 30s again on Saturday morning. A freeze is possible for the southwest Panhandle, around Muleshoe and Dimmitt.

Friday will be a cool and sunny day, with a cold night for football games. Next week will turn warmer again.

Have a great rest of your day. Bobby will have a full update to the forecast here early tomorrow.
