Record heat this morning, and a "legitimate" cold front expected midweek

Posted: Updated:

This morning's temperature in Lubbock dropped to only 70°, where typically on any September 29, temperatures are near 54°. A cold front expected Wednesday/Thursday will provide us with cooler and drier air. I say it's "legitimate" because we'll actually be able to feel the difference after it passes. Expect some afternoons with high temperatures struggling to reach the 70s, and lows dropping into the 50s at night!

TONIGHT: Some showers and thunderstorms under mostly cloudy skies. Low temperatures near 68° and a S wind 15-20mph.

MONDAY: Scattered showers and thunderstorms with temperatures near 82° and S wind 15-20mph.

Each day will bring a good chance of rain. FYI, when you see "50%" on the 7-day, it means that 50% of the viewing area will see rain. This doesn't mean "It might rain, or it might not." I'm not talking about the pure probability of rainfall. As we head into a cooler weekend, it does look a bit drier than what we can expect for the next few days.
