THIS AFTERNOON: Scattered storms have developed across the area. There is a lot of humidity available, leading to heavy downpours. A storm over the Lubbock Airport in the 1 and 2 p.m. hours dropped nearly 1.5". Storm movement is from SW to NE at about 25mph. Here is FOX34 VIPIR:
We expect more storms to move across the area rest of this afternoon into the evening. It won't be every part of the South Plains. But it's a good chance you will get some rain.
This does extend into this evening. With additional development expected, there is the possibility for lightning delays at high school games. More showers and storms are likely into late night.
A few strong storms are possible, with gusty wind and some hail. But the main concern is flooding and lightning. It won't take long for streets to become flooded.
WEEKEND: We again have a pretty good chance for showers and storms Saturday. Main risk will be flooding. The rain chance will be a little lower early Sunday, diminishing by late in the day.
LOOKING AHEAD: The rain chance will climb slightly higher again Monday night into Tuesday. It also looks warmer by middle of next week, possibly back up to 90 on Wednesday.
Have a great weekend and check back here for updates. Robert will have the forecast updates this weekend.
