Resthaven Funeral Home honored law enforcement in West Texas Wednesday. The free lunch was a way to say "thank you" to the men and women who protect and serve.
"It kinda puts things in perspective and gives us, y'know, a sense of 'why' knowing why we do this," Texas DPS Sgt. Johnny Bures said. "And folks like this, the citizens out here, is why we do it."
Jonathan Jones with Resthaven said this is part of living in Lubbock.
"We are part of this community, we raise our families in this community, and these are the people that protect our families, our businesses, and our homes, and we sincerely appreciate that," Jones said.
This also served as a fundraiser for Santa Cops, the program law enforcement runs to provide gifts for children who otherwise might not get them.
