THIS AFTERNOON: It's warm, with upper 80s to lower 90s across our area. In the afternoon heating, clouds have increased some. We've also seen a few isolated showers out west. A few locations west of Lubbock may get some rain into this evening, coverage will stay fairly low. Here is FOX34 VIPIR:
Meanwhile, in the Gulf tropical storm Imelda developed this afternoon. It's not a major system, but will bring the risk for flash flooding around Houston and parts of SE Texas.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy, low near 65. Wind S/SE 5-10mph.
TOMORROW: High 92, partly cloudy. Wind S/SE 5-15mph. Like today, a few showers or storms are possible late in the afternoon. But it looks like the showers could pop up anywhere in our area tomorrow, unlike today, where it's just west of Lubbock.
INCREASING RAIN CHANCE: An upper-level trough over the western United States will bring the chance for some rain here second half of the week. It's not a guaranteed soaking for all of the area. But at least it'll help increase the humidity levels and provide some support for storm development.
At this point Friday and Saturday are a little more favored for rain, through it's still only a 30% chance both those days.
The rain chance should drop off Sunday into Monday. Longer-range guidance is showing another chance for rain returning by about Tuesday of next week.
Have a great rest of your day. Bobby will have a full update to the forecast here early tomorrow.
