How It Happened

Set One:
LCU overcame 10 attack errors, a trio of serving errors and a 10-5 and 20-16 deficit in the opening set. Trailing 20-16, LCU called a timeout and responded with an 8-1 run, with Thomas producing all four of her kills in the set during the stretch. LCU claimed the set 25-23, with a kill by Vanfleet to avoid a late Bulldog surge. SWOSU had nine kills in the set, with Maicee Morgan (5) and Nielsen (4) accounting for all the work.

Set Two:
The Lady Chaps played from behind early in the second set, falling to a 4-0 deficit to start the match. They trailed as much as 12-6 before a kill by Thomas ignited a 6-0 run to help tie the set 12-12. The score would be tied on eight occasions, but not before LCU bounced back from a 23-20 deficit with an ace from DeGuire tying the game at 23-23. A kill by Thomas capped the 4-0 run, before LCU would eventually receive an ace by Jalee Sims on the team's second set-point serve to claim the set 26-24. Thomas produced seven kills in the set, edging out SWOSU's Nielsen's mark of six in the set. LCU had 39 digs in the set, with DeGuire digging 14 and Marshall providing 11 digs. Marshall had a double-double in the set alone with 13 assists and 11 digs.

Set Three:
LCU controlled the third and final set, with Avery Moore (5) and Vanfleet (4) combining for nine kills in the set. The Lady Chaps jumped out to an 8-3 lead, taking advantage of five SWOSU attack errors before Thomas served up an ace to cap the run. LCU led as much as 18-9 before cruising to a 25-17 set win to sweep the match.
