UPDATE: Evacuation now lifted, residents may return home.

An east Lubbock neighborhood is being evacuated after a release of hazardous materials.

Authorities told FOX34 it's a hydrochloric acid leak near 2700 East 66th.

There's a low-hanging cloud they're concerned about. The compound forms an acidic mist and can be toxic to living things.

Residents are ordered to evacuate and stay clear of the area between Vanda Ave and Southeast Drive from East 48th St to East 66th St.
