UPDATE: Slaton man killed in crash on US Hwy 84

Update:

A man is dead and a woman is hospitalized after a crash on US 84 and Woodrow Rd, just west of Slaton. 

The Texas Department of Safety reports a Chevy pickup lost control on the highway and ended up in the center median. The driver, Cindy Danks, 62, of Slaton, veered right going back up onto the roadway, over-corrected and went into the center median again, according to DPS.

The pickup rolled over, ejecting David Danks, 66, of Slaton. DPS reports he wasn't wearing his seatbelt. 

Cindy was wearing her seatbelt and is at the hospital getting checked out for injuries.


First responders are working the scene of a fatal crash near Slaton on Highway 84 and Woodrow Road. 

Traffic in the area is being diverted. Crews are asking everyone to avoid the area if possible and expect delays. 

No reports on what caused the crash.
