Women's Golf in Fifth after First Day in Dallas

The Texas Tech women's golf team shot a combined 588 and will enter Tuesday's final round in fifth place following the first two rounds of play at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas.
 
The Red Raiders were led by Sofia Garcia on Monday, as she carded eight birdies in the first two rounds to finish 2-under. She will begin the final round of play in a tie for fourth on the individual leaderboard.
 
Junior Amy Taylor currently sits in a tie for 10th after an impressive showing in her final 27 holes, notching seven birdies en route to a 2-over performance, including a 3-under 33 on the front nine of round two.
 
Freshman Gala Dumez, who is competing in her first tournament for the Red Raiders, and Anna Dong both posted scores of 76 and 74 to tie for 27th at 6-over. Cecilie Nielsen rounded out the team leaderboard at 9-over.
 
Abby Van Cleave, who is also participating in her first event as an individual, tied for 58th with a score of 16-over.
 
Tech will begin the final 18 holes of play just four shots back of third place. Tuesday's final round will tee off at approximately 8:30 a.m. CT.
