Former Lubbock City Manager to run for Pct. 1 Commissioner

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Former Lubbock City Manager Lee Ann Dumbauld said Lubbock county is not serving its public safety need properly.

Dumbauld declared her candidacy for Pct. 1 Commissioner Tuesday morning. She plans on bringing her financial acumen to bear, focusing on budgets.

She said her work at the city level from 2004 to 2013 show how she can handle big capital projects. Dumbauld said the county's budget process and its cuts to equipment and vehicle budgets shows poor decision making.

"And what I've witnessed these last few years, it needs to stop and somebody has to step up to the plate and take it on. And I have more public finance experience than anyone that we might think of that will run for this office," she said.

Dumbauld will run as a Republican, so she could challenge Commissioner Bill McCay in the March primary.

He's held that position since 2005.
