The Texas Domestic Terror Task Force, inaugurated just this week, will likely be scrutinizing the Midland-Odessa shooting. The governor set up the task force following the mass shooting in El Paso.
The FBI is investigating the El Paso attack as domestic terrorism and a possible hate crime.
"The reason for the Task Force is broader than El Paso alone," Abbot said earlier this week, prior to the Midland-Odessa shooting. "We need to come to grips with the fact that there has been an increase in number and frequency of mass shootings as well as terroristic attacks."
22 were killed, 24 others injured in the El Paso attack.
