Look Around Lubbock: Air to Air Combat Competition

Image may contain: 6 peopleThe Air to Air Combat Competition is Saturday and Sunday starting at 9 a.m. at 1401 Inler Ave. There will be competitors from across the United States including two of our very own, Bob and Andy Mears. The event is called F2D combat. A highly maneuverable aircraft that goes over 100 miles per hour is towing a streamer. The two competitors have two airplanes apiece, the active model and a spare. The goal is to try to cut the streamer off of your opponents' aircraft as many times as possible to earn 100 points per cut. If you crash the active, you're allowed to remove the streamer off active model, run it around to the spare model and go at it again.

Llano Estacado Model Airplane Club has been a chartered club of Academy of Model Aeronautics since 1994. The club offers anyone wanting to fly control line model aircraft free lessons, and even training models to learn free of charge. Modeling is a hobby for any age or gender to learn many skills like mechanical abilities, working with your hands, social activities, inventiveness, geometry, chemistry, and piloting skills.
