LUBBOCK, Texas – Red Raider fans were able to see a slew of talent as Texas Tech volleyball's Red team edged the Black squad, 3-2, in the program's annual Red & Black Scrimmage, Saturday night at United Supermarkets Arena.

The Red team claimed the first two sets (25-19, 25-18) before Tech's Black crew rallied for a 25-22 victory in set three. The Red team responded with a commanding 25-13 win in set four but the Black squad bounced back once again and took home the final set, 25-23.

Senior standout Emily Hill led the way with 27 total kills (.323) while newcomer Caitlin Dugan stepped up with 14 kills of her own. Redshirt sophomore Hannah Allison followed the lead with 13 kills while Brooke Kanas (12), Allison White (11) and freshman Cadi Boyer (10) all recorded double-digit kills over five sets.

Defensively, freshman Lindsey Dodson made major waves and paced the crew with a whopping 24 digs. Veterans Emerson Solano and Kylie Rittimann weren't far behind as they racked up 22 and 20 digs, respectively.

The Red Raider middles put on a show as well. Boyer, White and Karrington Jones combined for numerous blocks on the night and combined for 27 total kills in Tech's final home match until Sept. 16.

All four setters saw plenty of time on the court, but it was Alex Kirby who collected the most assists on the night. The Knoxville, Tenn., native tallied 42 assists to go along with three kills and 14 digs. Tatum Rohme continued to make her presence known as she chalked up 18 assists and underclassmen Audrey Smith and Lauren Dodson both finished the night with double-digit assists.

"Tonight's match was very competitive," head coach Tony Graystone said. "Both teams, regardless of who was on what side or what combinations we used, got after it and that is a real positive. Now we will build out what we want to finish our preseason with before we start for real next week. There were a lot of positives and it was nice to step back in a game environment and see where we're at."

The Red Raiders open up their 2019 campaign at the Sports Imports D.C. Koehl Classic in Columbus, Ohio, on Friday, Aug. 30. For all the latest information on the Texas Tech volleyball team, visit or follow @TexasTechVB on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
