More isolated storms possible later today, very hot temperature returns Sunday

LUBBOCK, Texas -

We did pick up some rain across parts of the area from overnight storms. Here are some rainfall totals over the last 24 hours from the Tech Mesonet:

Airport: 1.59"
Near Tech unfortunately 0.00"

Colorado City 0.85"
Fluvanna 0.84"
Post 0.70"
Gail 0.47"
Snyder 0.45"
O'Donnell 0.40"
Muleshoe 0.28"
Ralls 0.28"

TODAY: Slight chance again for some isolated storms to develop this afternoon and evening. Partly cloudy with highs in the lower to mid 90s, south/southeast wind light 10-15mph.

TONIGHT: A upper level disturbance will be pushing out of the Rockies today. This will bring a chance for storms in the northern Panhandle. If these storms push an outflow boundary into our area we may see additional showers and storms after midnight into the early morning.

EXTENDED: A few isolated storms can't be ruled out but it looks to be the end of rain chances. Temperatures will quickly heat up with highs in the 100s Sunday and Monday with new records highs possible. A cold front will change that dropping lows to the lower 90s Tuesday and Wednesday. This front may provide a few isolated showers and storms, but wide spread coverage is not expected.

Have a great weekend! Matt with the next updated forecast tonight on the News at Nine.
